Early Life And Education

David Ibiyeomie, born on October 21, 1962, in Bonny Island, Rivers State, Nigeria, hails from Bolo Town in the Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area of Rivers State. His late father worked for Shell B.P, an oil exploration company in the Niger Delta.

Ibiyeomie received his primary education at Banham Primary School in Port Harcourt before moving on to Government Comprehensive Secondary School in Borikiri for his secondary education.

In 1980, Ibiyeomie gained admission to study Microbiology at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology in Port Harcourt. During his studies, he was actively involved in campus evangelism, which laid the foundation for his future ministry work.

In his quest for spiritual knowledge and growth, Ibiyeomie enrolled full-time in the Word of Faith Bible Institute (WOFBI) in 1995. WOFBI is a division of David Oyedepo’s Ministries and is known for its focus on faith-based education and training.

In recognition of his diligent ministry work, Ibiyeomie received an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Divinity from Bradley University in America on May 15, 2004.

To prepare himself for his ministerial journey, he enrolled in the Word of Faith Bible Institute (WOFBI), which is the Bible school division of the Living Faith Church, also known as Winners’ Chapel.

After graduating from Bible school, Ibiyeomie adopted the name “Salvation Ministries” and sought the approval and blessing of his spiritual father and mentor, Bishop David Oyedepo, before embarking on his mission to “build the Kingdom of God on Earth by infallible proofs.”

Ibiyeomie’s time in Bible school equipped him with the knowledge and skills necessary to fulfill his divine mandate. His adoption of the name “Salvation Ministries” reflects his desire to spread the message of salvation and bring people closer to God.

His commitment to seeking the approval of his spiritual mentor before embarking on his mission is a testament to his humility and respect for authority.

With the blessing and permission of his spiritual father, David Ibiyeomie formed a home fellowship with his family at 1689B Buraimo Kenku Street in Victoria Island, Lagos.

However, he eventually moved to Port Harcourt and on April 13, 1997, he established Salvation Ministries (Glorious Chapel) at Plot 35, Birabi Street, G.R.A. Phase 1, Port Harcourt. At its inception, the church had a modest attendance of 34 people, including Ibiyeomie and his wife, as well as five men, ten women, and nine children.

One of the reasons for the move to Port Harcourt was the presence of Bishop David Oyedepo, Ibiyeomie’s spiritual father, in the Lagos region.

After settling in Port Harcourt, Salvation Ministries continued to grow, and by July 1999, it had outgrown its initial location and moved to Plot 17, Birabi Street.

Ibiyeomie’s unwavering faith and commitment to building his ministry from humble beginnings have been integral to the success of Salvation Ministries.
